HAPPY NEW YEAR 2021

It seems like just yesterday that we were all preparing ourselves for the “New Millennium” – and waiting to see what, if anything, would happen to our computers. It was called -Y2K. Well, the New Millennium came and nothing happened.  Our computers continued working as they had always done. Y2K was much ado about nothing. Can you believe that was 20 years ago.?  Time sure has a way of catching up to us – even though we may not want it to – or may not be ready for it.

I have always loved the beginning of a new year!  I like to take January 1st, New Year’s Day, and spend time with me.  It’s a chance for me to look back over the last year and take inventory of how my year went. Did I accomplish what I set out to accomplish? Did I change the things in my life that I wanted to – or –add the things I wanted to add? Did I stay on track for realizing my goals?

I like to take the day and reflect on all the wonderful things that happened during the last year. Did I remember to give thanks for them? I like to reflect on the things that I didn’t think were so wonderful. Have I worked through any anger or frustration that might have occurred as a result of those “not so wonderful things?” I don’t want to bring any unresolved issues, or baggage, into this new year.

I also like to reflect on my relationships with family and friends and give thanks for them in my life. I ask myself if these relationships have deepened or is there some more that I could do to enhance them?  Then I like to start planning what dreams or goals I want to fulfill in the new year.

Even though this past year has been very different from many past years, I still am going to treat this New Years Day as I would any other, and I suggest that you might want to do the same. Here are some reflective questions to get you started.

  • Are there any things in your life that you would like to change, or add?
  • Do you have some goals or dreams you would like to realize in this new year?
  • Have you given thanks for all the wonderful things that happened during this year?
  • Have you worked through any anger or frustration that might have come about due to the “not so wonderful things” that might have happened?
  • How about your relationships with your family and friends – have they deepened – do they need more work?

These are just a few reflective suggestions to help you get started in creating the most wonderful 2021.

HAPPY NEW YEAR and Love to you all!
